Prof. Drs. T. Basaruddin, M.Sc., Ph.D.

Biografi

Prof. T. Basaruddin, atau lebih sering dipanggil Pak Chan, lahir di Desa Pelajaran, Kabupaten Kaur, Provinsi Bengkulu pada tanggal 25 November 1961. Setelah menyelesaikan pendidikan sekolah dasar di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, melanjutkan ke sekolah Pendidikan Guru Agama (PGA) di Manna – Bengkulu Selatan, dan saat duduk di kelas III mengikuti ujian SMP. Setelah mengantongi ijazah SMP meneruskan ke Sekolah Menengah Atas di SMA N I Manna. Selesai SMA meneruskan ke Universitas Gadjah Mada jurusan Matematika, yang diselesaikan dalam waktu 4.5 tahun dengan predikat Cum Laude pada akhir Tahun 1984. Awal 1985 bergabung sebagai staff di Pusat Ilmu Komputer – Universias Indonesia. Pada tahun 1986 meneruskan pendidikan dalam bidang Computing di University of Manchester (England), dan mendapat gelar Master of Science tahun 1988 dan Ph.D pada tahun 1990. Tahun 2019 menerima gelar Doktor Kehormatan (Honorary Doctorate Degree) dari Management Science University – Malaysia untuk bidang Higher Education Quality and Management.

Sekembalinya dari UK langsung aktif sebagai pengajar di Program Studi Ilmu Komputer – UI. Saat dibukanya Fakultas Ilmu Komputer UI tahun 1993, menjabat sebagai Wakil Dekan I (bidang akademik) dan menduduki jabatan tersebut hingga tahun 2000. Tahun 2002 hingga 2005 menjadi Sekretaris Dewan Pendidikan Tinggi (DPT) di Direktorat Jenderal Pendidikan Tinggi. Tahun 2004 diangkat sebagai Dekan Fakultas Ilmu Komputer UI hingga Desember 2013. Tahun 2016 diangkat sebagai Direktur Dewan Eksekutif Badan Akreditasi Nasional Perguruan Tinggi (BAN-PT) untuk masa jabatan 5 tahun.

Di kancah internasional dikenal sebagai konsultan ahli di bidang higher education development, dan pernah bertugas sebagai konsultan di Sri Lanka, Jordania, dan Mongolia. Selain itu juga aktif dalam berbagai organisasi lembaga jaminan mutu internasional. Tahun 2017-2020 sebagai President of ASEAN Quality Assurance Network (AQAN). Tahun 2017 – 2019 sebagai Vice President of The Association of Higher Education Accreditation Agencies in Islamic World (IQA), kemudian 2019-2021 sebagai President.
