On Tuesday (6/5), Fasilkom held an open session for the conferment of Computer Science doctorate for Yaya Heryadi. The session began at 3 PM in the Auditorium of Fasilkom UI, with the discussed dissertation titled: “A Unified Method for Dance Motion Recognition and Scoring using Two-Layer Classifier Based on Conditional Random Field and Stochastic Error-Correcting Context-Free Grammar”.
On this research, the researcher’s main concern is how to recognize a dance motion from a video, catch the choreography sequentially, thus the movement can be scored. The researcher proposes two-layer framework for recognizing and scoring dance motion. (1) By using conditional random field layer classifier, researcher believe that non-local interaction in segmentation and dance motion labeling from a robust video can be spotted. (2) Knowledge of dance master will be inputted easily using context-free grammar. This grammar system will also be able to localize the error in the dance sequence. The result of this research will be tested in the choreography of Pendet dance performances.
This session was led by Prof. Belawati H. Widjaja, Dra, M.Sc., Ph.D. with Prof. Aniati Murni Arymurthy , Ir, M.Sc, Dr. as promoter and Mohamad Ivan Fanany, Ph.D. as co-promoter. The examiners of this session were Dr. Eng. Anto Satryo Nugroho, Mirna Adriani, Ph.D., Dana Indra Sensuse, Ph.D. , Hisar Maruli Manurung, Ph.D. and Wahyu C. Wibowo, Ph.D. The dissertation was presented quite well and succeeded to get high-distinction result, 3.84. As the 31st graduate of Doctoral Program of Fasilkom UI, a doctorate was conferred for Dr. Yaya Heryadi.
