The easiness in monitoring pre-cancerous pathologies, for removal, may prevent later gastrointestinal cancers. The most recent, comfortable and non-invasive solution is capsule endoscopy. One of its advantages is the ability to reach the entire gastrointestinal tract and allow its visualization, which is not possible with traditional endoscopic methods. In this seminar, we talk about the need for contrast enhancement and upscaling of capsule endoscopic images. We hope this will also be an opportunity to discuss new ideas that would further ease the work done by gastroenterologists.
Olivier Rukundo, Ph.D is currently a Researcher in the Department of Computer Science at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Norway). He is also the manager of research project entitled upscaling based image enhancement for video capsule endoscopy funded by the Research Council of Norway. His current research project focus on color-enhancement and upscaling of capsule endoscopy images. Prior to this, Dr. Rukundo was with the University of Pretoria (South Africa), Tilburg University (Netherlands) and Ghent University (Belgium) as a Postdoctoral Researcher. Dr. Rukundo areas of expertise include the design of algorithms for image interpolation and enhancement.
