Generative AI for Audio Generation
Speaker’s Brief Biography:
Andros Tjandra is a Research Scientist at Meta. He earned his PhD in 2020 from the Graduate School of Information Science at NAIST, Japan. During his doctoral studies, he held research internships at both Google Brain and Facebook AI, and served as a student researcher at RIKEN AIP. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from Universitas Indonesia, receiving cum laude honors for both. His award-winning work has been recognized with the IEEE ASRU Best Student Paper Award and the ASJ Student Excellence Presentation Award. Currently, his research focuses on the intersection of speech and audio recognition, generation, self-supervised learning, and multimodal machine learning. He has served as a core contributor to several high-impact audio projects, including XLS-R, MMS, Audiobox, Audiobox Aesthetic, MovieGen (Audio), and SAM-Audio.
Abstract:
The landscape of generative AI is rapidly expanding to encompass rich, dynamic audio-visual experiences. This talk explores recent breakthroughs in high-fidelity audio generation, beginning with Audiobox, a foundational model leveraging Flow Matching. We will discuss how Audiobox unifies diverse audio generation tasks—such as speech, soundscapes, and sound effects—through continuous normalizing flows, achieving unprecedented controllability and acoustic quality. Building upon these foundational principles, we will then examine the advanced audio architecture of Movie Gen. We will delve into the complexities of generating synchronized, high-quality audio conditioned simultaneously on rich text descriptions and dynamic video inputs. By bridging advanced flow-matching techniques with complex multi-modal conditioning, this session will provide some insights into the cutting-edge architectures and research driving the next generation of immersive, creative audio creation.
