University of Indonesia (UI) Computer Science Faculty (Fasilkom) team’s has successfully swept the title in the 2022 Asia Regional Jakarta International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) competition as the Best National Team. This was proven by the Fasilkom UI team consisting of 1) Stacky.py, 2) Bingung Weh, 3) Kotlin Enjoyers who won first, second, and third place. The Fasilkom UI team had to compete with 60 teams with a total of 180 participants (students) from various universities throughout Indonesia who entered the Asia Region Jakarta round, including the Bandung Institute of Technology, Gajah Mada University, November 10 Institute of Technology, IPB University, and Bina Nusantara University . This dominance was considered very significant after during the previous year’s implementation, one of the Fasilkom UI teams, namely Stacky.py, successfully won fourth place. The three teams were guided by Mr. Denny, S.Kom., M.I.T., Ph.D, a Fasilkom UI teaching staff who had won the 2020 ICIC World Finals Coaching Award.
Dean of Fasilkom UI, Dr. Ir. Petrus Mursanto, M.Sc., stated that this achievement should be proud of. “Congratulations for the achievements of our students at the ICPC Asia Regional Jakarta 2022 event. This achievement shows the quality of learning at Fasilkom UI which is very capable for students to compete in the international arena. Hopefully this achievement will be a real contribution to the development of digital talents in Indonesia. In the future Fasilkom UI will continue to produce competitive human resources in the field of computer science not only at the national level but also at the international level,” said Dean Mursanto.
It should be noted, as the oldest programming contest in the world since 1977, this year’s ICPC has entered its 45th year. Previously, the Fasilkom UI team won the High Honors title at the 44th ICPC World Finals in Moscow in 2021. At that time, the Fasilkom UI team succeeded in securing a position at 32nd place in the world and managed to outperform Stanford University, which was at 51st.
ICPC is a collegiate programming contest with an international level and focuses on algorithmic programming that aims to solve problems. The victory of the Fasilkom UI team at the Jakarta Regional ICPC event in 2022 is inseparable from the support of UI and sponsors namely Sea Group (Shopee Indonesia) and Huawei Singapore. Fasilkom will again compete to represent UI in the next ICPC World Finals which will be held in Egypt in 2023.
