Prof. Yudho Giri Sucahyo, a professor at the Faculty of Computer Science of Universitas Indonesia, was appointed as the chairperson of the Indonesian Internet Domain Name Registry in 2019. Prof. Yudho, an alumnus of the Faculty of Computer Science of Universitas Indonesia, received the most votes at the general meeting of members on May 4, 2019 in Tangerang.
Until today the Indonesian Internet Domain Name Registry has been managing about 310 domains, but the number of users is low considering Indonesia has over 250 million citizens.
“Moving forwards, increasing the number of domains is our priority. We will do this by increasing the professionalism of the Indonesian Internet Domain Name Registry and maintaining intensive communication with communities. That way, domain .id will become Indonesians’ first choice in this digital economy and Industrial Revolution 4.0,” said Prof. Yudho in his opening remarks.
With Prof. Yudho as the chairperson, the management of the domain .id seems to be brought back to UI. This is because domain .id (CCTLD/country code top-level domain .id) and internet protocol (IP address) were motorized by a scientist of UI, Prof. Dr. Jos Luhukay.
