Prof. Xue Li is a full Professor in Data Science, School of Electrical Engineering Computer Science at the University of Queensland (UQ) in Brisbane Australia. Prof Li has had more than 30 years’ experience in Data Science research. His research interests include algorithms on multimodal data fusion, machine learning, and Artificial Intelligence in applications of privacy preservation, social media and social network analysis, medical and healthcare recommender systems, image and video pattern recognition and understanding. He has more than 300 research articles published in ACM, IEEE journals, and international conferences, books, book chapters, with 12,000+ citations and h-index 57.
Prof. Xue Li was an Editor on Board, (2004-2007) of International Journal of Information Systems and Management & Technology, Elsevier, A Guest Editor for three issues of the journals: Journal of Global Information Management (JGIM), International Journal of Data Warehouse and Mining (IJDWM), and International Journal of Systems Science (IJSS). He is an Associate Editor of Journal of Advanced Internet of Things. He is an Honorary Professor in School of Medicine, Griffith University, Australia (2018-2020). Prof Xue Li is the founder and Steering Committee Chair of a Southeast Asian International Conference on Advanced Data Mining and Applications (ADMA), 2004 – 2026. Proceedings are published on LNAI (Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence, by Springer in Germany).
He has been invited as a keynote speaker on Big Data Analytics, Data Mining, and Intelligent Information Systems in numerous international conferences. Prof. Xue Li as a Principal Supervisor has supervised 6 Post-Doctors, and 36 PhD students, 33 of them have graduated. He has been teaching courses of Advanced Database Systems, Data mining, Machine Learning, Computer networks, Web Information Systems, Cloud Computing, and Programming.
Prof Li led his research team won prizes awarded by Google, Microsoft, International conferences, and the Australian Government in recent years. He was recognized as one of the Top-50 “Most Powerful People in Australia” in 2015 by Australian Financial Review. Prof Li has been a Chief Investigator (CI) for many research projects. The grants of research projects including Nine (9) prestigious ARC (Australian Research Council) Research Funding Projects (6 ARC DP + 2 ARC LP + 1 ARC LIEF) (with 22% success rate Australian national-wide), and UQ Strategic Development projects over 5 million Australian dollars.
