Thursday (28/10/2021) the Faculty of Computer Science (Fasilkom UI) held an online 35th Anniversary celebration. The event, entitled Karsa Unite for the sake of Advanced Indonesia, lasted for three hours and can be accessed on the official Fasilkom UI Youtube page. 

The anniversary activities were enlivened by a series of events, namely: Industry Talk (20 October 2021), the latest technology seminar; The 13th International Conference on Advanced Computer Science and Information Systems (ICACSIS) and The 6th International Workshop on Big Data and Information Security (IWBIS) on 23-26 October 2021; Virtual Exhibition (2-28 October 2021), featuring all research laboratory products, Fasilkom UI student activities, and the Computer Science Center (Pusilkom). 

The peak celebration of the Anniversary (28 October 2021) of Fasilkom UI presented the musical film Sangkuriang entitled KARSA BERSATU ‘SIBI Assisted Musical Cinema Artistic Creation for the Deaf’ whose screening combined the use of technology that can embrace the deaf. This technology is the fruit of a research work from the Fasilkom UI lecturer team, Dr. Ir. Erdefi Rakun, M.Sc. The technology used is an application called KIBI, a translator of Indonesian text into the SIBI movement (Indonesian Sign System), which is capable of translating dialogue and lyrics of songs sung by actors/singers into a three-dimensional animation. 

In translating text into SIBI movements, there are two processes, namely building a database of all SIBI movements in the dictionary that stores the coordinates of the fingers and joints of the movements, then analyzing the input sentences which are broken down into sentence components according to the standards applicable to SIBI. . 

Founded in 1986, Fasilkom UI started as a Computer Science undergraduate education program which was founded in, then became a faculty in 1993. Currently Fasilkom UI has two undergraduate study programs, two master study programs, and one doctoral program. 

In order to realize a developed Indonesia and equal distribution of quality education in Indonesia, Fasilkom UI has contributed to the success of the independent learning campus program by providing training for non-UI students and the outside community through the massive open online course (MOOC) program in the field of computer science and information systems. In this program Fasilkom UI offers 16 courses at the Bachelor and Masters levels. 

UI Chancellor, Prof. Ari Kuncoro, S.E., MA, Ph.D., expressed his hopes for Fasilkom UI, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary, to continue to be committed to creating ready-to-use ICT resources with qualified scientific insights, promising soft skills with more advanced entrepreneurial abilities. .

On the same occasion, Acting Dean of Fasilkom UI, drg. Nurtami, Ph.D., Sp,OF(K), in his remarks expressed his appreciation to the Fasilkom UI academic community who have given sincere dedication so that Fasilkom UI can continue to grow and reap many achievements to date. 

“We are part of the nation’s innovation, human beings with full of hopes and aspirations that can advance Indonesia. With perseverance, enthusiasm, positive thinking, and uniting steps, let’s make Fasilkom UI’s dream come true to excel in science and become a role model for the next generation.” he added. 

He hopes that in the future Fasilkom UI will continue to produce generations of people who are not only smart, but also able to contribute to the nation in accordance with UI’s unique values that have been instilled early on in college.
