In the last decade the field of Information Technology (IT) has developed very rapidly. The role of IT is the lifeblood of a modern organization in conducting operations and business management. In particular, this tendency creates a need for human resources to build and manage IT. The Information Technology Masters Program (SK DIKTI No.2006/D/T/2005 dated 24 June 2005) under the auspices of the Faculty of Computer Science, University of Indonesia (Fasilkom UI), is designed to fill the gaps in the needs of the industrial and business world for professionals, with expertise in IT.

To support the research process, the MTI program is supported by Labs with Information Technology – based studies, namely the E-Government & E-Business Lab and the Information Management Lab.
The MTI curriculum is designed to study for 4 semesters, but it is possible for students to complete it in 3 semesters. Lecture activities are held at the MTI-UI Salemba Campus. Lectures are held in the evening (evening class: 19.00 – 21.30). Afternoon classes are only opened if the number of participants is sufficient (usually only in odd semester admissions).

The curriculum is designed to support areas of work within the scope of IT management (such as IT/IS planning, IT implementation, IT management, software development, and so on) as well as career opportunities in relatively new fields (such as systems consulting and integration, network infrastructure, e- business, IT Governance, digital economy and so on). Career preparation (career tracks) is supported by the obligation to deepen and specialize in IT through the Final Work. The University of Indonesia Information Technology Masters Curriculum is built by two main elements:
The preparation (proposal) and writing of the final work are carried out under the guidance of at least 1 (one) supervisor, and in the end will be tested orally by an examining committee consisting of a minimum of 3 (three) examiners in addition to the supervisor.
The Information Technology Masters Program is designed to produce master graduates in the field of information systems/information technology who have strong abilities in utilizing emerging technologies, integrating aspects of technology and management, having a global perspective and insight, being tolerant and responsive to problems in public.
MTI Fasilkom UI in collaboration with several overseas partners, opens opportunities for double degree Masters programs. This program is held under the following scheme: the first year of lectures at MTI Fasilkom UI and the second year at partner universities abroad. Students will obtain two degrees (from Fasilkom UI and partner universities).
Prospective students register online for SIMAK UI (UI Entrance Selection) at https://penerimaan.ui.ac.id and choose the Fasilkom UI Magister program to be pursued (MTI). Complete guidelines regarding registration and admissions schedules for new students are available on the UI admissions website. The selection process consists of: Administrative selection, Academic Potential Test, English Language Test.
After being accepted and passing the selection at the Fasilkom UI Masters program, the student can submit to the Head of the Study Program for plans for a Double Degree program at partner universities. Registration for partner universities is carried out online according to the information and guidelines on the partner university websites. The selection process consists of: administrative selection and TOEFL/IELTS scores.

The e-Government Information Technology Masters Program (MTI) is an Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics Scholarship Program, which is implemented with the aim of creating superior government apparatus human resources in e-Government development within Central and Regional government agencies in accordance with Presidential Instruction No. 3 of 2003 concerning National Policy and Strategy for e-Government Development. The target of this program is the availability of human resources managing e-Government within Central and Regional Government agencies.
There are three Postgraduate study programs offered by the UI Faculty of Computer Science, namely two study programs at the Masters level and one study program at the Doctoral level.
The UI Graduate School of Computer Science Program only accepts students through the UI Entrance Selection (SIMAK UI).

The Computer Science Masters Program (MIK) focuses on scientific development in the field of Computer Science which also includes Information Technology, Software Engineering, and Information Systems. This program is very research-oriented, and every MIK student will be involved in research through a thesis project and is affiliated with one of the research labs at Fasilkom UI (info about research labs can be seen in the Research Menu on the website cs.ui.ac.id)
The Information Technology Masters Program (MTI) is oriented towards the Information Technology expert profession, and equips students with both theoretical and practical knowledge regarding the latest developments in the field of Information Technology. Lectures for the Master of Computer Science (MIK) study program are held in Depok and the Master of Information Technology (MTI) study program in Salemba.
