The presence of the Faculty of Computer Science (Fasilkom) as one of the faculties at the University of Indonesia (UI) cannot be separated from the establishment of the UI Computer Science Center (Pusilkom) initiated by Dr. Indro S. Suwandi.
Died in 1986, he is a young lecturer in pharmacy at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia (FKUI). Even though, Dr. Indro S. Suwandi has an interest in mathematics and computing. So that in the 1970s, he had the opportunity to take part in a computer introduction program by IBM. In addition, he also made visits to universities in the United States.
Based on the passion and idealism of the current technological developments, Dr. Indro S. Suwandi continued his education and obtained a Ph.D in mathematics and computing at the University of Wisconsin, United States of America with outstanding grades. In addition, due to his large contribution in introducing computer technology in Indonesia, he has become one of the leading figures, both among universities and industry.
In his efforts to establish Pusilkom UI, he is known as someone who has a charismatic and visionary character. Thanks to his determination and persistence, Pusilkom UI has continued to grow from a small institution to become the Fasilkom UI we know today.
