Laksmita Rahadianti (Faculty of Computer Science\, Universitas Indonesia) \nRegistration link: https://cs.ui.id/researchtalkui \nAbstract: \nThe best standard of image quality is subjective image quality\, which involves asking human observers to judge the quality of the image. This is a cumbersome task\, which is the reason why many objective image quality methods 13:10 24/11/2022 have been developed. These are usually expressed in the form of numerical metrics\, measured using a mathematical formula to simulate subjective quality. However\, these objective metrics often do not correlate well with the actual opinion of human observers\, failing to capture the abstract concept of “naturalness” and “visual pleasingness”. As such\, the concept of image quality should be looked at from a holistic perspective\, considering various quality attributes.

Although much hope has been pinned on the use of health information technology (HIT) to alleviate this critical and enduring societal challenge\, the realized societal impact of HIT is unclear. Anchoring on both the social transformation theory and the affordance actualization theory\, we conducted an in-depth qualitative study with two rounds of data collection in Mainland China. Our analysis contributes to a theory of HIT solution for the healthcare rural-urban access inequality challenge by establishing the link between HIT affordances and HIT interventions. This is done by examining how micro-level HIT effects (i.e.\, individual-level affordance) escalate to macro-level HIT effects (i.e.\, societal-level affordance)\, which lead to addressing the healthcare access inequality challenge. Along with providing policy implications on introducing HIT solutions to address the intricate societal challenges\, it also extends the referenced theories by conceiving a way to generate macro-level affordance. \n\nSpeaker bio:\n\nChuan Hoo (CH) is Associate Professor (tenured) and Deputy Head (Programmes) in the Department of Information Systems and Analytics\, School of Computing at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He is the curriculum chair for the department. Prior to joining NUS\, he held a tenured faculty position in Hong Kong. Chuan Hoo conducts research in the area of the digital economy\, digitalization and future of work with a range of organisations and institutions. His work has appeared in premium journals such as MIS Quarterly\, Information Systems Research\, Journal of Management Information Systems\, Journal of AIS\, ACM Transactions on Management Information Systems\, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management\, Journal of American Society for Information Science and Technology\, Long Range Planning among many others. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed papers (http://goo.gl/gZcd47). He serves or has served on the editorial boards of leading journals including MIS Quarterly (Associate Editor)\, Journal of AIS (editorial board member)\, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management (editorial board members)\, among others. Special focus will be on different problems types that Data Scientist encounters. Some examples of problems include Classification problems\, Regression problems\, Relationship Analytics\, Feature Engineering\, Decisioning\, and Question-Answering. In other words\, we will explore what tools and techniques are essential in a Data Science Toolbox. \n\nSpeaker bio:\n\nDr. Lukose has over 25 years of experience in professional consulting services\, applied research and development in Artificial Intelligence Systems. Prior to joining Monash Data Futures Institute at Monash University\, Dr Lukose was the Chief Data Scientist at GCS Agile Pty. Ltd. (Australia)\, leading a team of Data Engineers and Scientist building Predictive Models\,  Ontology Modelling and Engineering. During his role as the Chief Research Director and Director of Artificial Intelligence Centre in MIMOS Berhad (Malaysia) from 2007 to 2016 he was responsible for leading a team of 70 research scientist\, software architects\, software engineering and knowledge engineers in creating intellectual properties and commercialization of these patents by incorporating them into large scale national project for the private and public sectors in Malaysia. His role was to plot the strategic direction of his teams R&D in AI\, in addition to mentor and guide his team on the application of novel AI techniques and technologies including Machine Learning\, Deep Learning\, Semantic Web\, Knowledge Graphs\, Social Network Analytics\, and Natural Language Processing to solve challenging real-world problems. Earlier in his career\, Dr. Lukose worked as Principal Knowledge Engineer with Mindbox Inc. (USA) and prior to that with Brightware Inc. (USA) responsible for architecture and development of high-performance Artificial Intelligence software for the Utility and Financial Sector. He holds a BSc (Hons) and a PhD from Deakin University (Australia).
